Speaker bio: Ryan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Middle Tennessee State University. He is also the founder of The College Game Project, a multi-media repository for students, counselors, administrators, teachers, and parents focused on explaining the reality of college in the 21st century and providing practical advice for true college success, and author of How to Win at the Game of College: Practical Advice from a College Professor.
About This Session: The theme of Ryan's address will be "Focus on Process, Not Endpoints." Designed for a broad audience, this presentation was created based on Ryan's personal experiences as a student and professor and focuses on the lessons learned along the way. Specifically, he encourages counselors and administrators, at all levels of education, to help students understand the process involved in making good decisions, not just the result of making a decision. By focusing on process rather than endpoints students learn how to problem solve and have a greater vested interest in their own future.
